Ara expand gambling services across the South West of England

Ara are the National Gambling Treatment Service provider for:

  • Bristol
  • Bath and North Somerset
  • Wiltshire
  • Gloucestershire
  • Wales
  • And now Cornwall!

In 2019-20, Ara supported over 5,000 people for the first time in its history. In addition, by 2023 Ara aims to be working with 50% more beneficiaries.

Cornwall gambling help

With research suggesting that there are up to 5,500 people in Cornwall directly suffering gambling harms, and a further 11,000 at risk of developing serious gambling harm, Ara are delighted to bring their resources and experience in changing lives to Cornwall.  These figures don’t take in to account the emotional toll on affected others – for every problem gambler, up to 10 loved ones and colleagues are adversely affected, and Ara are able to support these groups too.  Ara’s overriding objective is to deliver recovery and tangible change to local communities through a place-based approach, and client-centred interventions.
