Ara Cafes

Ara Cafes

At Ara, we passionately believe that people can change and recover. That’s why in 2012 we set up the Arc Cafe at St Mary Redcliffe, to help people climb out of the cycle of addiction, poor mental health, poverty, and despair. We wanted to help people in recovery lead purposeful lives and maintain their sobriety by providing a wide range of education, training, and employment opportunities.

And guess what? It worked.

When the opportunity arose to work with the RWA in 2020, we jumped at the chance to have two Ara cafes. The RWA’s commitment to improving mental health through art and creativity goes hand in hand with our social purpose. By visiting our Ara cafes, you are providing our wonderful trainees with a hand up rather than a hand out, while also getting great coffee and food.

Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic both of our cafes are closed for the foreseeable future.

What support is on offer from Ara?

We have a range of interventions on offer, but our most important one is to listen.
