We have an immediate need for a Community Engagement Specialist, working within our
Specialist Housing Support Service. This position is permanent – 35 hours a week.
Location: Bristol – Community Based across North, East and South Bristol

Department: Specialist Housing Support – Community Engagement
We are looking for someone to provide recovery-focused community engagement support
to people in recovery from drug and/or alcohol use, supporting them to reconnect with
their communities and build meaningful, sustainable lives.
The Community Engagement Specialist will work predominantly with community-based
clients, supporting them to build recovery capital, including confidence, structure, social
connection and access to opportunities that support long-term recovery and wellbeing.
The role includes delivering 1:1 engagement support, group workshops, drop-in sessions
and community-based outreach, as well as using a social prescribing approach to connect
clients to activities, training, volunteering and wider opportunities across Bristol.
Must hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
Some of the key tasks for this role include:
- Deliver ongoing 1:1 engagement support to community-based clients across North,
East and South Bristol. - Plan, deliver and facilitate group workshops that build confidence, motivation and
reduce anxiety. - Deliver regular drop-in sessions at Horizons hubs and local community venues,
providing accessible, informal support and signposting into Community Engagement
and wider Ara services. - Use a social prescribing approach to connect clients to activities, training,
volunteering, education, wellbeing groups and employment pathways. - Support clients to build recovery capital, including confidence, structure,
independence and access to positive relationships. - Develop and maintain relationships with community organisations to ensure a broad
and accessible range of opportunities. - Participate in community events, engagement activities and outreach sessions to
promote the service and increase engagement. - Maintain accurate records and outcome data to support service delivery and
evaluation.
