We have immediate need for a Peer Coordinator, working within our Specialist Housing Support service. This position is permanent, 35 hours per week.
Location: Bristol – office based with some outreach
Salary: £30,348

About the Role
We’re looking for a motivated and empathetic Peer Coordinator to lead Ara’s Peer Academy programme within the Peer Academy. You’ll support individuals with lived experience through their training, supervision, and development as Peer Mentors.
This role includes facilitating group supervision, providing day-to-day guidance, and working closely with staff across Ara to deliver a safe and effective peer-led service. You’ll also help mentors maintain healthy boundaries and ensure they’re supported to work safely and sustainably.
As part of your own development, you’ll take part in peer support training to align with the values of the Peer Academy.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Support
- Deliver and facilitate regular group supervision sessions for Peer Mentors, promoting reflective practice, wellbeing, and continuous development.
- Offer ad hoc support and check-ins for mentors, addressing concerns, challenges, or safeguarding issues in real time.
- Ensure Peer Mentors maintain professional boundaries and follow Ara policies and procedures.
Communication & Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact between Peer Mentors and Ara staff (e.g. Support Practitioners, Housing Management, training providers).
- Coordinate Peer Mentor involvement in client services (e.g. shadowing, group facilitation, 1- 1 mentoring), ensuring activities are aligned with service delivery.
- Communicate updates, feedback, and issues between Peer Mentors and operational teams.
- Collaborate with external services, partners, and organisations to identify opportunities and achieve the best outcomes for Peer Mentors.
Training & Development
- Support the delivery of the Peer Academy training programme by attending sessions, providing feedback, and tracking mentor progress.
- Help identify additional development needs and opportunities for individual Peer Mentors.
- Contribute to the recruitment and onboarding of new mentors.
Monitoring & Evaluation
- Keep records of supervision attendance, mentor activity, and concerns raised.
- Support monitoring and evaluation efforts by gathering feedback from mentors and tracking outcomes.
- Ensure data collection is aligned with funder and organisational reporting requirements.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Lived experience of recovery or relevant understanding of recovery journeys.
- Experience facilitating group discussions or supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain boundaries and handle sensitive conversations with care.
- Organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple relationships and priorities.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Desirable:
- Experience working in a housing, support, or peer mentoring environment.
- Experience with trauma-informed approaches.
- Familiarity with safeguarding and confidentiality protocols.
- IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, case recording tools).
