Lived Experience and Relapse Prevention

Since January 2019 Ara has facilitated a ‘Lived Experience’ group, which was set up to encourage and promote the voice of those with lived experience of problem gambling, or those who have been affected by another’s problem gambling.

Our Lived Experience group now comprises an established group of enthusiastic individuals, who meet monthly to discuss how we can reduce gambling harms and review, evaluate, and help shape the gambling treatment services in the South West and Wales.

If you’d like to know more, or would like to join our Lived Experience group, please email aragamblingservice@recovery4all.co.uk or call us on 0330 1340 286 and we’d be delighted to provide you with further details.

Our Relapse Prevention Programme can be accessed via our Get Support page.

Fill in the form and we will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

“It could be that despite all of your efforts to control the gambling, you can’t do it and you need to stop”

You are not alone.

Many have done it before you.

To stop and remain stopped requires some practical tools though, so please use a combination of self-exclusion and try to exclude for a longer period than you think you need. Put Apps that act as blockers on all your devices, and be prepared to move your bank account to Banks who offer gambling Blockers if your bank does not already do so.
